Useful information for traveling through Ecuador

As we have been doing, first a series of general data of the country, and then of the main points (which we have visited) in Ecuador.

The food in Ecuador is the most varied and delicious. Depending on the area we are in, the recommendation of what to try varies substantially. On the coast the dishes are mainly made up of sea products, and they are, in general, delicious. Preparations similar to those of Peru and Bolivia are found in the mountains, with some strengths to mention.

Transport in Ecuador is worse than that of Peru, and similar to that of Colombia. Double-decker buses do not exist, nor do those with fully reclining seats, so be prepared. In favor we can say that the transports are not as chaotic as one would expect, and that they are really cheap, at the rate of 1 dollar per hour of travel.

The legal currency is the US dollar for several years, when the Sucre came out of circulation. However, it is not common to see 50 or 100 dollar bills, so if you travel with those denominations it is advisable to ask for change in the banks, because almost nobody accepts them.
